Stayed for three lots of five nights. Staff-were obliging, attentive and available. This is not a 5 star hotel ,and has an appropriate price tag . Our three lots of five nights were good value for money :all the comforts without the price tag. What we really appreciated, was a willingness to do things for us which other places would have charged us for, This is because it is a smaller business not a big one.. This is not a five star hotel together with the Price together with the price and is good value for money with all the creature comforts one needs. Great location in the city. Will use again.

A wonderful historic hotel close to everything in downtown Sydney. Like most older hotels, the water and air temperature can be a bit finicky to regulate, but well worth it for a classic hotel stay. Room was large and clean. The staff were extremely helpful, letting us check in a hour early. And the Reagh bar in the hotel has a very reasonable happy hour from 5-7. We enjoyed a house wine there each night before going out to dinner. And you can’t beat the location, within a block or two of every possible train or tram, and only a half hour walk to the harbor. We will definitely return when we’re in Sydney again.

Although I was unable to communicate in English, I would like to thank you for all your consideration from check-in to check-out. The same female front desk staff member assisted us at both check-in and check-out, and she was very kind and attentive. Located in a part of Sydney where diversity blends together, this hotel has a classic atmosphere and I felt it was a hotel that really embodied Sydney. The location is good, it's easy to get to anywhere, the facilities are good and I was able to stay comfortably. I would definitely use your services again when I visit the CBD. I stayed here to go to the Capitol Theatre. It was within walking distance, the room was lovely with character, VERY comfy beds and shower wonderful. The staff were wonderful and continental breakfast very good. Will be back.

Exceptional location!! We are return guests at the Castlereagh, and this is our go to place to stay when we visit Sydney. Rooms are clean, well-appointed and present as a welcomed refuge after a day of exploring bustling Sydney. Staff are friendly, polite, accommodating and aim to provide you with the best possible stay you could wish for. The Castlereagh offers amenities from an aesthetically pleasing foyer, excellent bar and restaurant and many in house services comparable to luxury accommodation without the luxury price tag.

Literally couldn’t fault this place. So much character in the building. Very stylish. The thing that we liked the most was the attitude of the staff. I stay in a lot of hotels in Sydney and I’m often disappointed by the unhelpful unfriendly uninterested staff. Staff at the Castlereagh we warm welcoming and helpful.

This place was a great surprise and I really enjoyed my short stay here. Rooms were quaint but clean and well maintained. Fantastic location. This place is straight out of the 50's and I will stay here again.

I stayed there for 3 nights. The room was clean, comfortable and location was within walking distance to the Opera House and Darling Harbour. I left my mobile phone at the hotel lobby during check out and the staff of the hotel were helpful in arranging it to be delivered to me at my next place of stay. Our room was very comfortable - it was the quietest and most comfortable room we've ever stayed in. Period. Room was compact, very clean and restive. Shower was next level with great pressure and lots of hot water. Staff were very helpful and friendly. We've already booked our next trip to Sydney with them.

I stayed at the Castlereagh for five nights. The hotel is beautiful and unique. I didn't require any special services until the morning I was checking out. Mr. Peter O'Brien went ABOVE and BEYOND in my situation. Early that morning I was preparing for a long flight overseas. I had been in Australia for 3 weeks and had three huge bags to get to the airport. My taxi called about five minutes before it was supposed to be there to tell me about an accident near the airport; he had been stuck in traffic for over an hour and would not be able to pick me. Not only that, but any other taxi would not be able to make it through the accident to get to the airport terminal. I was more than stressed! As I was trying to figure out my way to the nearest train station (never mind the ridiculous task of getting that luggage out the door, down the road and on to a train!). Mr. Peter O'Brien overheard my situation. He quickly began to tell me about a closer train station with a more direct route to the airport. He could see the stress in my face as I learning what I was going to have to do. He told the front desk he would be right back and HE PUSHED MY TWO HUGE SUITCASES for nearly 3 blocks and saw me safely to the correct train. AMAZING! He did it with a fabulous attitude, trying to keep me from stressing out. He would not accept my meager tip, which I begged him to take. Good morning, I wanted to tell you what a fabulous time we had on Saturday night. It was so wonderful to have someone look after all the details for me and your eye for detail is fabulous. We had so many people tell us how beautiful and elegant the room looked and asked me “where did you find this amazing venue”. The food was also very good, everyone enjoyed their meals. How wonderful it was having all the people that I love in one room and it was a night I will always remember. We had a great experience. Our Functions Manager, Costa was thorough and organised with regards to the process of planning the wedding reception. He sent us regular emails that were really reassuring. The venue was beautiful, and they were very accommodating to our guests’ dietary needs. They were flexible with everything. The charming old world character and decor of the hotel is as welcoming as the friendly staff. The Front Officer Manager made our family feel so welcome, providing information and willing support with bags to our very large and comfortable room on level 11. Thank you Armando. All the beds were very comfortable, the linen fresh, the bathroom huge and newly renovated with lots of hot water. The hotel is central to everything, parks, kids play parks, restaurants, theatre , shopping, the Rocks, Opera House, Botanical gardens and transport. Excellent value.

The Castlereagh Boutique Hotel is a centrally located gem that harks back to the classic glamour of days gone by. The hotel is spotless with many heritage features and staff have been well trained to address any concerns from guests. There are several dining options available as well as room service if needed, and the room (queen and single beds) was well appointed with good quality tea and coffee, and all bathroom necessities provided.

As a regular, this doesn't disappoint. I've been staying here in and off since a child myself with my parents over 40years ago. Clean, central & reasonably priced (well, for Sydney anyway). Staff helpful with food and bar in house.
